Two Long-time Leaders Stepping Down

At the AGM in November, Rob Campbell will be stepping down from his role as President of Floorball New Zealand. During his time on the committee, Floorball New Zealand has hosted three qualification tournaments which all have been incredibly successful. The teams have also developed significantly during this time with the U19 Women's team playing in two World Championships and the U19 Men's team competing in a World Championship. The last couple of years have been difficult for the sport with the disruptions caused by COVID-19, however through this time Floorball continued to be played which was a significant achievement when compared to other countries around the world. Although disruptive, the pandemic provided an opportunity to reset the FNZ committee and its now in a good position to push the sport onwards and upwards. We wish Rob all the best and thank him for the time given to Floorball in New Zealand.

We will also say farewell from the committee to Jane Bertschinger. Jane has been instrumental to the sport in her previous role as secretary and more recently as the competitions manager, ensuring events such as the Secondary Schools tournament have continued over the last few years. Alongside this she has established the Masters tournament and re-ignited the National Championships. Across these three series, Jane has ensure players from all walks of life have tournaments to attend. Most recently she has helped establish the Wellington regional league, which we are looking forward to getting fully underway in 2023. Getting these projects off the ground has been an amazing achievement. We thank Jane for her workand wish her well.

These roles are critical to running Floorball across the country, as such we are seeking applications for president and competitions manager. The roles of communications and sport promotion leader, club liason officer , treasurer, and national teams development officer are also up for election at this AGM. If you are interested more information is available in our previous post. Please email in expressions of interest to contact@floorball.org.nz.
