2021 AGM and National Champs Postponement

Tēnā koutou,

Due to the continued lockdown in Auckland and the Waikato, Floorball New Zealand has postponed the National Championships (previously scheduled for 6-7 November). We are looking at new dates early next year for this tournament to take place and will make a further announcement when they are confirmed.

This year’s AGM was initially planned to take place in person alongside this tournament, but we will now run this online. The AGM will be held on Saturday 6 November at 1 pm.

Committee Members Election:

As per the FNZ constitution, two of the roles of president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer are elected in alternating years. This year we are electing the vice president and secretary. Any person who is a member of a member club that is also a full financial member of Floorball New Zealand can put forward a nomination. Nominations need to be received 5 days prior to the meeting (Tuesday 2 November) via email to Jane Berstchinger at contact@floorball.org.nz.

  • Secretariat:

Ensures the sub-committees remain connected and meet regularly to achieve the objectives of FNZ. They assist the president with the organisation of papers, meetings, induction of new directors, and other duties to ensure the smooth running of a board.

  • Vice President:

Works with the President, and stands in as required, to ensure that the Committee functions efficiently. The role is responsible for audit and risk, ensuring the committee meets its responsibilities with regard to governance and risk management of Floorball NZ.

Committee Member Roles:

Alongside these positions, FNZ is also looking for members to fill specific roles to contribute to the development of Floorball in NZ. It is not expected that members will fill these roles by themselves, but that they will form sub-committees that will help. If you would like to be part of the committee and fill one of the roles, please email contact@floorball.org.nz with the role you would like to do and a brief description of why you think the role suits you. The roles we are looking for are;

  • National Teams Development:

Finding coaches, managers, and other volunteers to support FNZ teams. Work with coaches and team management to make sure they have the tools and procedures in place to run a campaign.

  • Competition Management:

Plans and organises FNZ events ensuring they are accessible to everyone. Coordinates with clubs to ensure local competitions are run to standard and there are no conflicts with national activities.

  • Club Liaison:

Promotes Floorball NZ and co-ordinate the development of clubs through liaison with existing and emergent clubs.

  • Communications and Sport Promotion:

To oversee the website, social media presence, and promotion of the sport in general. Work with competition managers to ensure events are promoted, and where possible competitions and finals are streamed.
