Seeking Coach for U19 Men’s National Team
About the role
Floorball New Zealand has had U19 Men’s National teams playing in World Floorball Championship Qualification Tournaments in 2014, 2016 and 2018. The team has made improvements since the first tournament in 2014 becoming the first NZ team to play through a qualification tournament and progress to the Men’s U19 World Championships in Canada in 2019.
The team was unable to compete in the 2020 World Floorball Championship Qualification Tournament due to covid restrictions.
The next qualification tournament will be held in September 2022 and Floorball NZ is looking at entering a team again into that event. The tournament venue is still to be advised but is expected to be in Singapore dates of 7-11th September . NZ will compete against other countries from the Asia-Oceania region. Should the New Zealand team qualify, they would travel to the World Floorball Championship Finals held in Frederikshavn, Denmark 26th-30th April 2023
Floorball New Zealand is committed to further improve and strengthen the Floorball performance of the New Zealand National teams. Therefore, Floorball New Zealand is looking to engage an experienced and passionate Floorball head coach for the U19 men’s National team for the campaign of the 2023 World Floorball Championships. The head coach who will lead, train and coach the team until the Qualification Tournament in 2022 and in the case of qualification, also to the World Floorball Championships later.
As a driven coach, the candidate will easily demonstrate strong ability to lead and inspire a dedicated squad and leverage experience, knowledge and skills of all that is required to be successful in Floorball. The selected head coach will become a vital part of Floorball New Zealand and be integral to the development of the sport in the near future.
The successful applicant will have:
● A real passion for Floorball and the development of individual players as well as a positive team culture and spirit
● A strong dedication to work with young and developing players and help them become a strong part of future National teams
● Experience in working with players and showing understanding of their needs and ability to address these
● A proven track record in coaching and playing Floorball at a high level
● An excellent knowledge of Floorball skills, techniques and team tactics
● Effective and confident communication skills to work effectively with players, squad, manager, FBNZ, parents and other stakeholders
● A positive and supportive attitude to inspire and encourage all players and create an inclusive team environment.
As the National team coach will work with young players, a police check is required and should be submitted together with the registration of interest. At least one reference should be indicated who can be contacted by Floorball NZ as required.
Floorball New Zealand is currently not in a position to offer payment for this position. Any compensation for travel expenses, accommodation, food, etc. in connection with the role as Head Coach will be provided through team members. Any applicant applying for this role is doing so in a volunteer capacity.
