Get ready for the 2025 Secondary Schools Floorball Cup!
The countdown is on! The 2025 Secondary Schools Floorball Cup is set to take place on Saturday, 29 March, and Sunday, 30 March at the Ākau Tangi Sports Centre in Wellington. This highly anticipated tournament will bring together some of the best young floorball players in the country for a weekend of skill, strategy, and sportsmanship.

Tournament Schedule
Saturday, 29 March: Games will be played between 8:30AM and 6:30PM.
Sunday, 30 March: Games begin at 8:30 AM, with the prize giving at approximately 4:15PM - 4:30PM.
Pool Play & Playoff Format
The tournament consists of three pool play groups:
Senior girls & junior mixed
Senior boys & senior mixed
Junior boys
Pool play Highlights:
Games in each group will contribute to overall pool standings.
Playoff games will be based on registered grades (mixed teams will be split back out for playoffs).
Formats include full pool play, round robins, and double round robins, ensuring every team gets competitive matchups.
Playoff Highlights:
Senior Girls: Top four teams will play semifinals, followed by placement games.
Junior Mixed: A single-game final will determine the winner.
Senior Mixed: A two-legged final will be played with an aggregate score deciding the winner.
Senior Boys: Quarterfinals across pools, followed by semifinals and placement matches.
Junior Boys: Semifinals followed by placement games.
Team Check-In & Managers Briefing (Compulsory)
To ensure a smooth tournament experience, all team managers and coaches must attend one of the compulsory briefings scheduled for 8:00AM or 9:00AM on Saturday, 29 March.
These will be held in the Sports Control Centre (beside Rink 1).
At check-in, managers will receive a team pack, including all necessary tournament details and warm-up balls (to be returned at the end of the tournament).
Competition Regulations
The tournament follows the official Floorball New Zealand rules. All teams must review the competition regulations and FNZ Code of Conduct before the event to ensure adherence to fair play and sportsmanship.
Referees are available for rule clarifications throughout the tournament.

Health & Safety
First aid will be available on-site and can be requested at the event desk.
Emergency procedures will be followed in accordance with the Ākau Tangi Sports Centre’s protocols.
The School Sport New Zealand Health & Safety plan and Floorball NZ standard safety plan will be in place.
Incident report forms will be available at the events desk for any incidents.
Dedicated Scorers
Each school is required to provide at least two adult volunteers for scorekeeping duties.
Volunteers will receive training on how to keep scores.
One volunteer from each team will score alongside a volunteer from the opposing team.
If volunteers differ between Saturday and Sunday, please submit names and availability via email as soon as possible.
U19 Women's & Men's Info Session
For players looking to take their floorball journey further, separate U19 Women’s and U19 Men’s information sessions will be held during the lunch break at 1:00 PM on Saturday, 29 March.
U19 Women’s session: Led by Jane Bertschinger, New Zealand U19 Women's Coach.
U19 Men’s session: Run by Anna Kibblewhite, Floorball NZ National Teams Manager, and Andrew Bargh, New Zealand U19 Men's Assistant Coach.
