2018/19 Mens U19 World Floorball Championships Campaign
 
Floorball NZ is pleased to announce Christian Bertschinger has been appointed Head Coach of the NZ Mens Under 19 Floorball Team for the 2018/19 World Floorball Championships campaign. Christian has a strong passion for Floorball and for the development of young players. He has been involved in junior coaching in Wellington for a number of years and a large number of these players now contesting for a spot in the Senior Men’s NZ team have gone through his coaching programmes and sessions.
 
Christian brings a passion to coaching that allows players to thrive and enable them to make good decisions on and off the court. He has a good undersatnding of teh potential of Floorball NZ and intends to further the development the next generation of National team players. In Christains words "Focusing on basic individual skills, fitness and simple game plans/tactics will enable the U19 Men’s team to raise the level and be a serious contender to qualify for the World Cup Finals in 2019."
 
As well as coaching, Christian has an illustrious playing career capitaining the NZ Mens team in 2011 and 2014 and playing with the NZ team in 2016.

 

Seeking Players for the NZ Men's Team

The New Zealand Men’s Floorball National team played in the World Floorball Championships Qualification in 2014 and 2016 and is currently ranked 26th in the World. Floorball New Zealand is calling for nominations from New Zealand floorball players to be part of New Zealand Men’s National Team for the Men‘s 12th WFC Qualifications AOFC in South Korea in January 2018. Floorball New Zealand has recently appointed Pavol Nekl as the head coach for the NZ Men’s National Team. Pavol is based in Christchurch and it is planned to have the majority of team trainings in Wellington.

NZ Men’s Head Coach for the 2018 World Floorball Championships

Floorball NZ is please to announce that Pavol Nekl has been appointed as the National Coach for the NZ Men's team. Floorball is important part of Pavol's life for more than 16 years. He will bring a wealth of experience that has included playing in the 2nd and 3rd National leagues in the Czech Republic and competed against the top teams from the highest league in the National Cup. Pavol is the holder of coach licence C issued in Czech Republic and has been coaching Men and junior team FBC Prerov, his hometown. Pavol came to New Zealand in 2014 and after six months without floorball started to play in the local club in Christchurch. From then he was part of the team that became the Champions of New Zealand in 2014, 2015 and 2nd in 2016. In teh last 3 years he has been chosen as an all star team member in Wellington Floorball Open. 

We look forward to Pavol coaching the National Mens team in a successful campaign over the coming year.

 

National Coaches for our 2019 campaigns - close on Thursday 10th August

  • NZ Women’s National Team Coach
The next qualification tournament will be held in January/February 2019 and Floorball NZ will be looking at entering a team again into that event. It is not yet known where that tournament will be held and what other countries from the Asia-Oceania region will compete in it.  Should the New Zealand team qualify, they would travel to the World Floorball Championship Finals held in Switzerland from 7 to 15 December 2019.
 
 
  • NZ Men’s U19 National Team Coach

The next qualification tournament will be held in September 2018 and Floorball NZ will be looking at entering a team into that event. It is not yet known where that tournament will be held and what other countriesfrom the Asia-Oceania region will compete in it.Should the New Zealand team qualify, they would travel to the World Floorball Championship Finals held in Canada (Halifax) from 1 to 5 May 2019.

National managers for our 2017/2018 campaigns - close on Thursday 3rd August

  • NZ Men’s National Team Manager

The manager will work closely with the head coach who will lead, train and coach the team from April this year until the QualificationTournament in 2018 and in case of Qualification, also to the World Cup Finals in December 2018. The team manager will support the head coach with administration, organisation and team management.

2018 Women’s U19 World Floorball Championships Campaign
Jane Bertschinger has been appointed Head Coach of the NZ Women’s Under 19 Floorball Team for the 2018 WU19 World Floorball Championships campaign. Jane has a wealth of knowledge and experience as a player, captain, referee, coach and manager in the floorball world and it’s great to have her on board to help lead the charge for our up and coming female floorballers.
 
This is the first time NZ has entered a team into the U19 Women’s WFC. Australia and New Zealand were the only countries from the Asia Oceania region to registerfor the event and both teams have directly qualified. The 8th Women’s U19 World Floorball Championship tournament will be held in Switzerland form 2-6 May 2018.
